I

Aloha mai e ku`u hoa!

For over a century, Hawaiian culture was suppressed. Our language was near death. Until a movement began in the 1980's to revive mo`olelo (story), `ōlelo (language) and mo`omeheu (culture).

The mission of this brand is to further that cause on the national and global scale. To reach beyond our borders to teach Hawaiian language and culture and to challenge the oppressive entitlement of colonial philosophy.

Ponoono Art is built with both ikaika (strength) and 'olu'olu (kindness) until the last aloha 'āina.

The art that you see is founded on both Hawaiian culture and imagination. Hawaiians were, and still are, exceptional storytellers. I aspire to be among that community of storytellers through digital and wearable art.

Aloha,

Pono
